The original Traveller Book back in print.

I just became aware that Marc Miller and Far Future Enterprise has just placed the original Traveller Book on RPGNow as a print on demand book. Just ordered a copy as mine is battered to hell and back. I will post about the quality of the book when it comes.

As a bit of history Classic Traveller came in three forms.

The original boxed set with Book 1 (characters), Book 2 (Starships), Book 3 (Worlds)
Starter Traveller (free on RPGNow)
and finally a hardcover Traveller Book.

The Traveller Book became my primary Traveller reference and has seen much use over the years.

It seems every time I visit your blog nowadays, I immediately go off and buy something.

This was my first Traveller game.

I grabbed the PDF the second it was up on DTRPG.

For PDF aficionados, I highly recommend the Ckassic Traveller CD-ROM from Far Future Enterprises. It has EVERY GDW Traveller product in PDF form for $35+shipping. Including all the board games, and both the 1977 and 1980 printings of the boxed set.

The print copy is pretty impressive, fair quality, but it's printed in Red and Black! Really nice touch. I now have all versions of Classic Traveller.

Not many people seem to be aware that there are actually two slightly different editions of the boxed set. My copy of the original 3 LBBs is the very first edition, which had a slightly different spaceship combat system. For those wondering, the main change was that the original scale was 1"=1000 miles, and one turn was 15 minutes (compare the later edition, which scaled at 1cm=1000km and one turn at 1000 seconds, or 16 2/3 minutes).

I also have the CD collection of PDF files. It's overwhelmingly cool.
