Look like we are going to get part of the future that science fiction said we would get. It not a rendering but an actual test article that will do VTOL tests in SpaceX's Texas launch facility.
I remember about 15 years ago when McDonnell Douglas was test flying the DC-X, a one-third scale version of their VTOL ground-to-orbit vehicle, the Delta Clipper. Had funding not been cut, the next step would have been a a two-thirds scale model, the DC-Y, followed by the DC-Z, a full-scale prototype.
