OD&D's Solitaire Adventure

James Malislewski talks about solitaire adventures here. One of the oldest if not the oldest soltaire for D&D was Judges Guild Survival of Fittest.

In my neck of the Woods (Northwest PA) it was respected enough that many DM would accept a higher level character that went through it. Of course you had to have a reputation for not being a cheater.

  1. I tried out Survival of the Fittest, and ended up throwing it down in disgust. I recall one room, filled with giant rats or something. If you were playing a druid, it directed you to a paragraph where it killed your druid, because he wouldn't dare kill the rats since they were animals...

  2. Yeah something tells me the Druid would either back out (giving Druids the option to backup to the previous page and make a new decision) or try a small chance of negotiating with them ...

    Meh.

IMO if an animal attacks my Druid, it's not a natural animal and it shall be skinned and its worthless innards strewn across the road. Neutral means bite me ;)

  3. Certainly if an "animal" attacks the druid, he is justified in self defense. I also assume druids are just fine with eliminating vermin if they are out of control.
