Just last week we took a few 1st level characters, dwarven fighter, teifling sorcerer, human barbarian and human warlock, through a few combats just to get a feel of things.

First combat was 4pcs vs 4 zombies in a farmhouse (tiles). Due to poor positioning on my part, the sorcerer went down by the end of the 2nd round. The rest of the group won the day, but took some hits (zombies had some good rolls).

Next combat was using sewer tiles having the same group against a carrion crawler. The two fighters took the brunt of the attack in the front, while the sorcerer and warlock launched attacks from behind. PC's fared better, but the CC still hit the front line hard.

To the point! 5th didn't feel as superheroic as 3rd or 4th (especially 4th). We're doing more combats tonight. Looking forward to it.Alexanderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04643356884742389648noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5904133056957353312.post-60535563745312417862014-12-12T18:12:34.719-05:002014-12-12T18:12:34.719-05:00Sounds about right. I don't know if it's a coincidence or if there's actually something to it, but since I've been with the Monday night group, 3 PCs have died -- two in Swords & Wizardry, and one in D&D 5E. So our group's experience with 5E suggests it's plenty deadly.Chris C.https://www.blogger.com/profile/08655640273250716377noreply@blogger.com
